Why I Am Writing This Blog

I am going to be honest with you. I have never had any interest in writing a blog. However, after coming out of depression, I acquired the tools that brought me out of the dark and into the light. I saw the best version of myself. It felt like magic! The kind of magic that is too good not to be shared.

I want to clarify, I am not a psychologist or mental health expert. I completed several psychology units at university, but I am not a specialist. Before I began writing, I was astounded by the eloquence and expertise of the self-help blogs that were already out there. I questioned if I could possibly make an impact.

I understand that this can be unnerving to hear. Why take advice from someone who has no professional expertise? I feel I can offer a perspective that some may relate to. From that of an ordinary person, brought up by a loving family, and living in a privileged country. Yet still battled with demons of the mind. As I have stated, I am no expert. But I had the opportunity a few years ago to slow down and focus on my mental health. This gave me time to research, learn, grow, and come out of depression. Many people do not have the privilege of time as I have had. So, I wish to share what I have learnt in neat and easy-to-read packages, speaking from one soul to another.

For those of you who are struggling to feel the warmth of a sunny day, or for those that are yet to know a sunny day, my heart goes out to you and I deeply empathise with what you are going through. It is hard to comprehend right now, but depression can be one of your greatest gifts. That is if you allow yourself to climb ‘up from the well’ and into the light. If you will allow me, I would like to share some of the life changes I have made to help you get on your way.

Give me a chance, and I will do all in my power to help you see the light that I have.
