Introducing the Small Things

‘Getting better from depression demands a lifelong commitment. I’ve made that commitment for my life’s sake and for the sake of those who love me.’

Susan Polis Schutz

When I discovered how depression can result from a series of small factors building up in the mind, I figured it would be fair to say that several small things could also be the cure.

We often search for that one special remedy that will fix everything: the one pill, the one book, the one programme.

However, I don’t believe it is that simple.

To get the most out of your ‘road to recovery’, I believe the ‘small things’ discussed in this section will not only lift you ‘up from the well’, but assist to rebuild a fulfilled life for you.

I have included 11 ‘small things’ that worked for me. Although this seems like a lot, each of them has benefited me in different ways. Remember that this journey moves at your pace; add what you can and leave the rest behind until you are ready. I do, however, strongly recommend reading through all the posts to get a feel for each of them and choose what resonates with you.

I will be honest. It is draining. It requires work.
However, it will be the most beautiful transformation you will ever experience. I promise you that.

Although I have recovered from my depression, I know that my journey of growth is far from over. I continue to utilise all of ‘the small things’, as their benefits reach beyond helping with mental illnesses. I have signed up for a lifelong commitment, which I am excited to continue every day.

I speak extensively on all of ‘the small things’ in this section. Some posts are long, but give them a chance. I hope it helps.
